{"id":1860,"date":"2021-11-12T02:12:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T18:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jeffooi.com\/?p=1860"},"modified":"2021-11-13T15:45:50","modified_gmt":"2021-11-13T07:45:50","slug":"day-12-witness-10-syed-muhammad-fadzli-syed-hussin-macc-enforcer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeffooi.com\/?p=1860","title":{"rendered":"Day #12 -Witness #10: Syed Muhammad Fadzli Syed Hussin (MACC Enforcer)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Prosecution seeks to admit late businessman\u2019s statement<strong> in Guan Eng\u2019s graft trial<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>SOURCE: FreeMalaysiaToday, November 12, 2021 2:05 PM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/category\/author\/hokityen\/\">Ho Kit Yen<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR: The prosecution in <strong>Lim Guan Eng<\/strong>\u2019s undersea tunnel corruption case is seeking to admit the statement recorded from a late tycoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deputy public prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat<\/strong> told sessions court <strong>judge Azura Alwi<\/strong> the prosecution will raise the matter of the late <strong>Ewe Swee Kheng<\/strong>\u2019s statement at the next hearing on Nov 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ewe\u2019s statement was recorded by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers during the course of the investigation of the undersea tunnel case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was reported that the businessman died after he fell from his 16-storey luxury condominium unit in Penang on Oct 5 and landed in a swimming pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Penang police declined to disclose the deceased\u2019s identity, citing \u201cfamily sensitivity\u201d, Ewein Bhd, a company founded by Ewe, announced that the tycoon had died that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court was told today that Ewe\u2019s death was due to \u201cmultiple injuries consistent with a fall from height\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MACC officer Syed Muhammad Fadzli Syed Hussin<\/strong> said the case\u2019s investigating officer requested him to obtain a copy of Ewe\u2019s death certificate from the National Registration Department (JPN) last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe was supposed to be one of the witnesses,\u201d Fadzil said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"660\" height=\"336\" src=\"https:\/\/jeffooi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/LGE_SPUT-05-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-818\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jeffooi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/LGE_SPUT-05-1.jpeg 660w, https:\/\/jeffooi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/LGE_SPUT-05-1-300x153.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/jeffooi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/LGE_SPUT-05-1-150x76.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, Ewe was arrested by MACC to assist in the investigations into claims of corruption in the RM6.13 billion Penang undersea tunnel project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had been scheduled to testify but had not been called yet.
